Dubai Electricity and Water (DEWA) organised a workshop entitled, ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ in cooperation with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), an institution within the University of Cambridge. The workshop introduced the 17 goals of sustainable development adopted by the United Nations for the year 2030, particularly with regards to sustainability and climate change. The workshop supports DEWA’s commitment to promote the Emirate’s leading global position and the national goals for a sustainable future.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, has issued Directive number 1 of 2017 on the establishment and installation of electric vehicle charging stations in Dubai. This directive states that all public and private organisations and developers in Dubai must get approvals from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) before establishing, installing, operating or maintaining any electric vehicle charging station.

The centre reflects DEWA’s contribution to social responsibility and the Year of Giving initiative.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Smart Centre has achieved remarkable results with growth in smart adoption increasing from 64% in 2015 to 70% in 2016. Customer trust increased from 86% to 93%, and customer happiness also increased from 85% to 94%. DEWA’s Smart Centre was launched as part of the Customer Happiness Centre.

In line with its commitment to the community and promoting sustainable development in Dubai and the UAE, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced its participation as strategic sponsor for the 9^th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport organised by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) employees took part in sports activities as DEWA participated in the 2^nd UAE National Sports Day on 16 February 2017, coinciding with GCC Unified Sports Week. The events were jointly organised by DEWA’s Sports and Women’s committees.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and MD & CEO of DEWA, has announced that the Solar Decathlon Middle East will be organised at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The announcement was made at a press conference at the World Government Summit in Dubai, where DEWA is its sustainable partner.
