Vacheron Constantin, the world’s oldest Haute Horologerie manufacturer with more than 250 years of uninterrupted history, marked a successful appearance at the 11th edition of the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2014 that took place between the 24th of February and 2nd of March.
An unparalleled artisan forum for the world’s most luxurious jewelry and watches, the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition is held annually in Qatar and attracts prominent jewelers, watch makers and exhibitors and jewelry enthusiasts from around the world. The exhibition sets out to demonstrate the latest trends in the industry today; showcase the most magnificent gemstones and sophisticated timepieces in the world; portray the dynamism of Qatar and its strong and progressive economy; and ultimately encourage foreign investors to Qatar.
Among the diverse timepieces showcased at this year’s exhibition, Vacheron Constantin revealed several stunning watches from their Patrimony, Malte and Overseas collections for both men and women.
Patrimony Traditionnelle 14 days Tourbillon Collection Excellence Platine
One such magnificent piece for men is the Patrimony Traditionnelle 14 days Tourbillon Collection Excellence Platine; pure, rare and eternal… issued in limited series and designed for collectors of exceptional timepieces. The Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-day tourbillon Collection Excellence Platine is equipped with Calibre 2260, a mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement supplying an exceptional 14-day power reserve. In addition to the movement, the entire watch now bears the Hallmark of Geneva. The Collection Excellence Platine further affirms its unique nature in this exclusive model shedding new light on a subtle design in which rigorous beauty gives rise to serene and perfectly mastered beauty.
Malte Tourbillon in Rose Gold
Another exquisite watch for men is the Malte Tourbillon in Rose Gold. A perfect embodiment of the expertise of the master-watchmakers of the Manufacture, the tourbillon serves to compensate for the effects of gravity on timepieces. The Malte Tourbillon timepiece – the largest in the collection – has a curving 18K pink gold case measuring 38 x 48.2 mm and is fitted with a brown Mississippiensis alligator leather strap complete with Maltese cross-shaped rose gold folding clasp.
Such an exceptional watch deserved an equally exceptional movement, and this model is duly equipped with mechanical hand-wound Calibre 2795, comprising 169 parts, beating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations/hour) and endowed with an almost two-day power reserve. The Malte Tourbillon model also meets the new criteria of the Hallmark of Geneva.
Overseas Chronograph Blue Dial with Steel Bracelet or Dark Blue Strap
The Overseas Chronograph Blue Dial was also on display, a watch which enriches the range of Vacheron Constantin’s automatic chronographs. Graced with a meticulously finished deep blue dial enhanced by luminescent hands and hour-markers guaranteeing perfect readability, this model gives a dynamic boost to the Overseas collection. On a technical level, all Overseas chronographs are endowed with water resistance to 15 bar (around 150 metres), as well as anti-magnetic protection certified to 25,000 A/m. Calibre 1137 is a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement featuring 183 parts, a 40-hour power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
This sophisticated and elegant Overseas Chronograph with its 42 mm-diameter case comes in two models; the first is with a steel bracelet and the second with two dark blue straps: either in vulcanised rubber or in alligator leather. A triple-blade, twin-pusher steel folding clasp guarantees both security and comfort on the wrist for the wearer of this technical and sporty watch. This model featuring the dark blue strap is coming to the GCC for the first time ever for the Qatar Exhibition.
Patrimony Contemporaine small model
Because Vacheron Constantin also dedicates it beautiful creations to women as well, the Manufacture is delighted to introduce the dainty Patrimony Contemporaine small model. With two exquisitely designed models, ladies have the option of an 18K pink/white gold polished metal bracelet or an 18K pink gold partially diamond-set metal bracelet (192 diamonds).
The Patrimony Contemporaine small model’s pure 36 mm-diameter case is lit up by a bezel set with 68 round-cut diamonds, while the original full-set minute circle becomes a stylistic element that makes this watch resolutely on-trend. The transparent sapphire crystal caseback unveils 2450 self-winding caliber featuring an exclusive feminine hand-guilloche décor on the gold rotor. The Patrimony Contemporaine small model also meets the new Hallmark of Geneva requirements.
Patrimony Traditionnelle High Jewellery
If further testimony were required of Vacheron Constantin’s talent for orchestrating the Artistic Crafts, the high jewellery small model from the Patrimony collection would doubtless vividly reflect this enduring aptitude. Its 30 mm diameter is transformed into an enchanting stage for an exceptional light show. A stunning array of prong-set baguette-cut diamond totalling approximately 10.60 carats imbues time with a hint of eternity. The model also comes in 40 and 35 mm versions, both driven by a mechanical movement.
Case, dial, and buckle: not a single fragment of white gold remains unpaved with precious stones. Clinging to the exquisite curves of this dazzling jewellery creation, they radiate out from the centre of the watch face so as to cover the entire surface of the watch. The resulting shimmering effect is truly mesmerizing.
Overseas Small Model
The case, the design, and the ergonomics of this new Overseas model – which retains all the identifying characteristics of the collection – are specifically intended for women. Constituting a precious piece of jewellery and a resolutely technical timepiece, the new Overseas is notably distinguished by its 36 mm-diameter case in 18-carat pink gold and by its mechanical self-winding movement. Water-resistant to 5 bar (approximately 50 metres), the refined case of this Overseas timepiece is fitted with a solid screw-in case-back. In response to women’s ever growing attraction to fine mechanical watchmaking, the slender case houses Calibre 1226, a 143-part mechanical self-winding movement. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, drives the hours, minutes, central seconds and date functions, and ensures an approximately 40-hour power reserve.
The Overseas Small Model Date Self-winding from Vacheron Constantin comes in two versions: one with an 18-carat pink gold bracelet, and the other with a taupe-coloured leather strap complete with an additional vulcanised grey rubber strap. A triple-blade, double-pusher folding clasp in 18-carat pink gold featuring a polished half Maltese Cross ensures optimal security and comfort on the wrist.
Once again, Vacheron Constantin has managed to dazzle visitors at the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition by adding its exceptional touch of precision, elegance and refinement.
