UAE, July 17, 2014 - The UAE’s hosted a variety of activities and events for its various departments and school districts in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of the late UAE Founder and Leader, H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Held under the title, ‘Zayed Humanitarian Work Day.. Love and Loyalty for the Generous Zayed,’ the series of activities were hosted under the auspices of H.E. Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and under the presence of H.E. Marwan Al Sawalih, Undersecretary, Ministry of Education; H.E. Ali Mehad Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Special Education, Ministry of Education and participated in by a large number of managers, directors and department heads of the Ministry.
The events, which centered on celebrating Sheikh Zayed’s death anniversary, included a host of innovative activities that celebrated the great leader’s historic stages in life and the different leadership positions he held. One of the key highlights of the series of activities was a special competition among all Ministry officials that tackled various concerns and advocacies that Sheikh Zayed stood for--especially in the field of human resource building, women's affairs, charitable & humanitarian causes, education & development, as well as important landmarks in the country's history.
In a speech given to mark the occasion, H.E. Marwan Al Sawalih, Undersecretary, Ministry of Education, emphasized that we all should follow and be inspired by the vision and ideas of the late Sheikh Zayed, which is not only regarded as the true wealth of the UAE but also the key driver of the country’s efforts towards human sustainable development.
Al Sawalih added, “The interest of Sheikh Zayed in education and the development of schools throughout the country reflects the faith of the founder on the importance of learning and the necessity of arming the UAE citizens with tools of knowledge and specialized science; continuing the march of advancement and progress in various fields, especially in the field of education, guidance and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai as well as Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and rulers of the Emirates.”
Al Sawalih highlighted that the move to commemorate the departure of Sheikh Zayed represent the Ministry’s keenness in understanding the importance of remembering all events, values and principles related to human giving. These values are prompted by our tolerant religion and entrenched in the fabric of our society. It is the same set of values that the Ministry has placed great attention to --making it a major part of the curriculum used in today’s schools and student activities.
