Participation in recruitment fair to attract local human resources & develop competencies is highly successful
The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has announced its successful participation in the recently concluded Careers UAE 2016. The leading career fair, which is a national platform for job seekers and employers looking for talented Emiratis, was held from May16 to 18, 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Center. SLC has made remarkable progress at a record time in empowering national human resources so they may effectively contribute to developing the legislative and legal system in Dubai. The SLC stand attracted a large turnout of UAE fresh graduates and qualified professionals looking for career development opportunities within one of the most competitive, creativity and innovation-inspiring work environments across the Dubai public sector.
H.E. Ahmed bin Meshar, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee, expressed his pride in Emiratis who are steadily making progress on the path of innovation, knowledge and leadership to contribute to the development, progress and prosperity of Dubai and the UAE. He emphasized his commitment to providing the necessary means to improve the knowledge of UAE citizens by investing in, and enhancing their capabilities and skills with a view to helping them fulfil their potentials in line with the Dubai development plans.
H.E. bin Meshar said: “Our participation in Careers UAE for the second year in a row is a reflection of the tangible results achieved in attracting qualified, young nationals who joined the SLC last year. At this event, we want to highlight the success stories that have made us proud, and to showcase our achievements in the area of Emiratization. UAE nationals currently make up 60 per cent of the SLC General Secretariat’s total workforce. We are confident that this will help in creating a strong legal and legislative structure that will continue to uphold the rule of law and legitimacy in line with Dubai’s aspirations to become one of the world’s best cities in terms of quality of life.”
He concluded: “Our stand has also been visited by qualified and capable national women, whom we will appoint to appropriate positions to ensure their presence within the legal, legislative and judicial landscape. We look forward to increasing the representation of UAE nationals within the legal and the legislative sector, which is considered a pivotal sector with valuable contributions and strong influence on Dubai’s development process.”
Moza Al Mansouri, Head of Human Resources Section at SLC, said: “Our participation in Careers UAE 2016 is aimed at achieving the Emiratization target which remains the strategic priority of the SLC’s General Secretariat. The SLC General Secretariat is committed to attracting, recruiting and developing the skills of national human resources who are qualified and capable of driving the development of the legislative process and the legal system, based on the principles of proficiency, dedication, innovation, excellence and leadership. We will review all the CVs submitted at our stand to ensure that all vacancies are filled with appropriate candidates, establishing a new era of excellence in legislative and legal work with a special focus on helping Emirati women to achieve professional development and career excellence.”
Rashed Mohamed Essa, a Human Resources Officer and an Emirati who joined the SLC during Careers UAE 2015, praised the General Secretariat's efforts to create an integrated work environment that ensures the happiness, well-being and development of human resources. He emphasized that his joining the SLC has been a positive and exceptional experience for him which provided a strong start to his career, opening up new horizons for career excellence in the future. Rashed commended the Secretariat General’s high professional standards, transparency and honesty in dealing with him right from the time he submitted his CV at Careers UAE 2015 up to the personal interview and the appointment. He pointed out that the Secretariat has provided him with adequate opportunities to develop his creative skills within an environment that encourages innovation, creativity and positivity; a place where all staff members share a spirit of fraternity, cooperation and friendship with the support and cooperation of the senior management.”
The SLC was established in 2014 pursuant to Decree No. (23) of 2014 issued by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in line with the ‘Government of Dubai Strategic Plan’. The SLC is tasked with issuing and reviewing the legislation of the emirate through effective clear-cut procedures and methodologies, and aims to improve the legislative process and the quality and efficiency of legislation, to ensure integration and consistency of legislation with the provisions of the Constitution, and existing federal and local legislation, and to build a legal system that meets the aspirations and future outlook of the emirate of Dubai.
