Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG), in co-operation with a number of its strategic partners in government entities, has organized a brainstorming session titled "Challenges of connected services" as part of its innovative activities and its efforts for developing government shared services, which are offered in partnership or collaboration with several government entities to ensure sustainable happiness for Dubai society.
As part of an interactive workshop attended by a number of decision-makers in Dubai government entities, the brainstorming session discussed the actual challenges faced by government entities in connecting shared services. As a result of the discussions, a set of recommendations was made to overcome the challenges of connected services with the aim of consolidating joint action among government entities for government services to be connected and integrated.
H.E. Wesam Al Abbas Lootah, CEO of SDG, reviewed the goals of the session which included the need to have a joint positive way of thinking to identify the challenges faced by the government connected services and propose the recommendations necessary for overcoming them.
He also talked about the types of shared services, which were divided into informational, interactive, procedural and executive services, valuing the concerted efforts exerted by government entities to provide services in an efficient, seamless, coherent and integrated manner.
Individual efforts can achieve excellence while positive collective efforts can render Dubai on a par with top cities at the global competitiveness level, thereby translating the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, that the power of each team will be equal to the power of several entities working together, he said.
The session, which was held at the InterContinental Hotel, saw the participation of a number of officials and decision-makers in Dubai government entities who were free to think thoroughly about and discuss the proposed ideas and make notes with the aim of coming up with a set of recommendations that would meet the needs of connected smart government.
The session included a presentation on the "City Builders Race" initiative, which was made by Dr. Wafa Abu Sneineh, Advisor of Dubai the Model Centre, which is affiliated to the Executive Council. A number of successful experiences as regards the provision of government connected services to customers were also showcased. Lt. Colonel Jamal Ahmed Ibrahim, Director of Preventive Safety Department at the Directorate General of Civil Defence-Dubai, and Mr. Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technical Support Services at RTA, showcased their respective successful experiences, which enriched the session and helped exchange experiences on the delivery of connected and integrated government services with the aim of bringing happiness to customers towards the ultimate goal for Dubai to become the smartest and happiest city in the world.
By this workshop, SDG seeks to get a range of innovative solutions and recommendations on the way to connected smart government. These solutions will subsequently be developed and implemented in line with SDG's mission of delivering world-class smart services and infrastructure to create happiness. This will pave the way for SDG to fulfill its vision, which is aligned with that of Smart Dubai, for making Dubai the happiest city on earth.
