3rd LIOG-2017 Summit lures major businesses and investors
The third edition of the “Lebanon International Oil and Gas Summit” (LIOG 2017) is increasingly drawing the attention of local, regional and international businesses and investors to Lebanon’s promising petroleum sector.
A strong agenda and an impressive number of confirmed high-caliber speakers, delegates, sponsors and supporters, have allowed the LIOG-2017 Summit to consolidate its position as the leading event in Lebanon and the East Mediterranean, with its return to Beirut this May.
The third edition of the LIOG 2017 Summit will take place on 9 and 10 May 2017 in the Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand. It will be held under the patronage of Eng. Cesar Abi Khalil, Lebanon’s minister of energy and water, and in collaboration with the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA).
LIOG 2017 has earned the support and endorsement of a number of sponsors and supporters from both the private and public sectors. Major sponsors include Energy One as Strategic Partner, Along with International energy conglomerate Schlumberger and BB Energy as Platinum sponsors. A number of other industry leaders have also sponsored the event including, Bureau Veritas from France, Baker Hughes from the USA, United Safety, Lebanon’s Medco and others.

Record-breaking participation
The importance of the LIOG 2017 Summit has also been reflected in the impressive number of participants. “We expect to host over 300 participants from nearly 200 local and international companies and organizations as sponsors, exhibitors, speakers or delegates,” explained Dory Renno, Managing Director of co-organizers, Planners and Partners S.A.L.
In addition to high ranking officials and executives from public and private sectors, the summit will host oil and gas exploration and production companies along with a wide range of service and logistics companies. Such companies include drilling and well management companies; pipelines manufacturers and suppliers; engineering, construction and maintenance companies; banks and law firms; as well as, health, safety and Environment (HSE) consultants, training companies and recruitment specialists.

In addition to Minister Abi Khalil, who will inaugurate the event, LIOG 2017 Summit will host over 30 leading speakers from the oil and gas industry, and related sectors who will provide an invaluable insight to the newly presented opportunities in the country's energy sector, the challenges and the road ahead for companies and investors in the field.
“A total of nine sessions have been strategically structured around three main themes to cover most of the topics of interest to the sector,” explained Gilbert, “we placed a special emphasis on factors that can make Lebanon a favorable destination for oil and gas investments. Such factors include the resilience in the Lebanese vibrant economy and business arena, the existence of a highly educated multilingual workforce, and the renewed government’s commitment to transparency through its intention to join the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI).”
The event will also host an integrated exhibition, and a business-to-business service, to become a real platform for networking, corporate branding and forging actual business deals.

The LIOG 2017 Summit coincides with the launch of the tender for Lebanon’s first five offshore blocks. It is the perfect time to provide all participants with the best possible platform for insightful information and debate, along with dedicated networking opportunities.
