Opening on March 18th 2015 AT 7 :00 PM - Jewellery Souk, Beirut Souks
Eight sections displaying cartoon works from all over the French-speaking countries are at show at the Jewellery Souk, Beirut Souks. The exhibition «Des Cases et des Hommes » is the result of a competition by the Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinee, which reaches out to all Francophone cartoon artists, and is presented by the embassy of Belgium in Beirut in the context of the Mois de la Francophonie in Lebanon. Belgium in is home to iconic figures in comics, whose work has influenced the discipline across the globe. It is hardly possible to think of the country without recalling names like Herge, creator of the Tintin series, and Peyo, the creative mind behind The Smurfs. Beyond Belgium, comics have become an integral part of Francophone culture at large- one of its distinctive forms of artistic expression with universal appeal.
