Ministry of Climate Change and Environment Opens an Environmental Library

Environmental eBooks to be added to the library collection

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has opened an environmental library to the public at its headquarters in Dubai in response to the Year of Reading 2016 initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and in support of the upcoming World Book Day celebration on April 23, 2016. The move is one of the Ministry’s several cultural initiatives and projects scheduled to be launched this year, demonstrating its active participation in the ongoing national efforts to create a nationwide reading culture and provide the public with an easy access to scientific knowledge on the environment, climate change, and other fields.

The library contains books and covering various topics. Different topics about the environmental efforts of the Ministry, and general information for employees and the public will be covered on the books and eBooks. In line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, direction, the Ministry encourages every aspect of reading practices in the development of the UAE, and contributes in developing a naturally curious generation to show deep passion for reading and learning.  

Dr. Saad Mohamed Al Numairi, Minister's Advisor, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said the library was established to help boost more initiatives in the year of reading with an aim to instill the love of reading among the country’s future generations. In addition, education and reading are essential tools to build highly skilled workforce, one of the top priorities of the UAE leadership. Education is an essential foundation for knowledge. Reading and exchanging knowledge will enhance human perception and awareness to contribute to the country’s advancement.

The Ministry is also set to launch a series of cultural programs and initiatives to promote and encourage reading as well as organizing future cultural workshops for its employees.
