(August 18, 2014) Beirut, Lebanon – The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) announces the opening of Lebanon’s first comprehensive multidisciplinary Balance Center. The center caters to patients with dizziness and imbalance symptoms, whether related to ear, neurologic, muscular or orthopedic issues, offering them therapy by a specialized medical team.
“Another specialized clinical program to be added to AUBMC’s portfolio,” said Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and Director of the Balance Center at AUBMC, Dr. Marc Bassim. “This program will be one of the very few specialized comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic centers in the Middle East catering to the medical needs of people with dizziness and balance conditions.” added Dr. Bassim.
Dizziness is a complex complaint that can result from disorders of various organ systems and medical conditions. AUBMC’s Balance Center provides expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders relating to dizziness, vertigo and unsteadiness.
Given the complexity of the vestibular and balance systems, experience counts when it comes to diagnosis and treatment. AUBMC’s clinicians have a combined experience of many years diagnosing and treating even the most difficult cases. The Balance Center utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on the expertise of specialists in the area of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Neurology, Neuroradiology, Audiology, and Physical Therapy to address each patient’s medical and rehabilitative needs. This collaborative approach to patient care makes this facility a unique and outstanding resource for both patients and healthcare providers who work with individuals experiencing dizziness or balance problems.
