The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has concluded its participation in the activities of the ‘Ambassadors of Safety’ awareness programme launched by the Child Protection Committee of the Dubai Police’s General Department of Human Rights under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The participation of the authority reflects its commitment to developing society and promoting the UAE's efforts to address children's issues and provide a safe environment for the children of the country.
Commenting on the authority’s participation, H.E. Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General – Support Services, TRA, said: “The TRA believes that its responsibility is not just limited to developing the communications sector, but also includes contributing to the development of society and supporting endeavors to achieve further progress, prosperity and happiness. Children are the wealth of our nation, they are the pillars of future and the axis of the UAE’s developmental plans. As part of its social responsibility and in support of the efforts of the UAE to overcome obstacles to the proper upbringing of children, the TRA was eager to sponsor this event which aims to raise awareness on ways to protect children from violence and abuse”.
H.E. Al Suwaidi added: “The UAE has been an example of outstanding community development, especially in terms of protecting and promoting children’s rights as they are the pillars of the UAE’s development and prosperity. Our support for this event is part of our tireless efforts to support the UAE's endeavors in enhancing the safety and prosperity of the community.”
The Ambassadors of Safety campaign’s various activities included awareness, recreational and scientific events for children, performances from popular bands, animal shows featuring hawks, birds and camels, and cycle rides. This project aims to spread awareness on children's rights in all schools and to encourage the protection of children from sexual assault and harassment as well as their involvement in educating their peers and informing them of their rights. The project also urges the public to communicate with the Child and Women Protection Department when children are exposed to any kind of abuse.
