HIT THE ROAD! The Sandro woman has the travel bug. She’s in love with the world, and with time. For the Spring-Summer 2019 season, the Sandro woman thrives on contrasts from around the world and adopts duality as if it were a permanent feature in its vocabulary. Evelyne Chetrite embraces an intercultural view that moves with the trends. The notion of travel is a common theme to her, from one story to the next, celebrating the cultural heritage of the 1990s. The Sandro woman evolves through a temporal journey and subversively plays with the fashion icons of her adolescence. Adhering to the codes of a 90s business woman away for a weekend at the Hamptons, she juxtaposes a streetwear-type style from a world suffused with hints of old school groove. Striped navy yachting-style suit trousers, worn with a pair of dad shoe-style trainers. A bowling shirt with a gold chain print, combined with faded jeans with patches and a bum bag. Stonewashed denim pieces enhance a baggy navy cardigan with gold buttons. Cable knit, scarf print, patches or tweed contrast with oversized denim, jumpers, bucket hats, or joggers. Within this assembly, where different items come together, elements of streetwear and sophisticated codes blend in a natural way. The studio mixes different worlds with freedom, and uses masculine - feminine opposites; for example, an outfit that matches a masculine trench coat with a pleated f lag-print skirt. In parallel with this BCBG street spirit, the studio extends the 90s metaphor by celebrating the style of the techno era. The bass of the first Love Parade festivals gives rhythm to the collection through slogans. Printed, embroidered or even woven: BORN TO LOVE and WORLD LOVERS ring out like rallying cries. The iconic Smiley can be seen on minimalist jerseys. The Gabber-style mix & match can be seen implicitly, especially on a beige-coloured zipped cotton jacket, with padded inserts worn with a faux python mini-skirt. In a romantic spirit, the Lou bag has been remodelled as a metallic mirror version. At her feet, Flame and Astro trainers are a must. The style is unencumbered, and the combinations are almost infinite. On this intercultural journey, the Sandro woman follows the path of her desires. SA
