Diabetes population at 19 per cent ranks UAE 16th worldwide
Prime Healthcare Group, a leading healthcare provider in the UAE, has launched a campaign in support of World Health Day. The campaign will be held for the whole month of April 2016 at Prime Hospital and Prime Medical Centers across the UAE. The campaign will throw the spotlight on common diseases and aims to facilitate healthcare services in a more effective and efficient manner.
Also, the program will highlight diabetes as its growing occurrence has been a cause of concern for medical professionals. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the rate of people suffering from diabetes worldwide has increased by over 6 percent from 2014 to 2015. The UAE ranks 16th worldwide, with 19 per cent of the UAE population living with diabetes. These statistics indicate that the region has high risk factors for diabetes, mostly related to rising obesity rates and physical inactivity.
Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Managing Director, Prime Healthcare Group, said: “We at Prime Hospital and Prime Medical Centers are always committed to promoting awareness about common illnesses to the people of the nation. We look towards educating them with proper information and encourage them to do frequent check-ups, which will help detect illnesses and be treated at a very early stage. We also promote and advise people to avoid and fight common diseases, simply by incorporating healthy lifestyle choices and reducing stress levels during their daily lives.”
In line with the goals of the campaign, Prime Hospital and Prime Medical Centers will be offering medical services and examinations that will help people be more aware of their current physical condition. This wide range of services includes Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and BMI testing, as well as medical specialist consultation, in pediatrics, gynecology and childbirth, orthopedics, dermatology, dental and ophthalmology.
