Mr. Mario Moretti Polegato, Founder and President of Geox, visited Lebanon on the occasion of the latest expansion and opening of the fifth store as well as emphasizing on an ongoing and continuing partnership between “Geox and Hamra Shopping & Trading Co”.
On this occasion, a press conference was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Dunes on April 27th in the presence of key members of the press and partners, shedding light on the brand’s latest locally and internationally with an overview of the upcoming plans, projects and latest technologies.
The first Geox store opened its doors in Lebanon in 2005 and now 10 years later the expansion continues, opening the new location at Le Mall Sin el Fil. After Beirut Souks, Kaslik, CityMall and Dunes, the added location taps into a different region within a high traffic mall. Commenting on the international success of the brand, Mr. Polegato stated: “I founded Geox 20 years ago on the pillar of innovation and the company invests 2% of its annual turnover in research and development. This choice represents one of the key assets of Geox success in the world because it makes us able to anticipate our consumer's expectations providing them products able to blend innovative solutions and contemporary style".
Mr. Jamil Rayess, General Manager of HST Co, commented on the occasion stating: “We are honored to welcome Mr. Polegato in Lebanon for the third time and further celebrate the growth of Geox.” It is our aim to offer our customers top international brands that are high quality and fashionable products and Geox clearly falls under that umbrella. Through expansions and increasing the number of stores, we aim to further make our brands accessible to customers to meet their shopping needs”, he continued. The renowned Italian shoes and clothing brand, Geox is known for its patented technology of using a micro-porous membrane structure within the sole: the membrane is a technical material able to expel the sweat without letting the water to come in, thanks to this technology the shoes are breathable and waterproof at the same time. The Group was founded in 1995 when Mr. Polegato developed and patented that technology, which was later labelled by the famous slogan “the shoe that breathes”. Since then, the brand has grown to expand to over 103 counties, distributing its products in 10,000 multi-brand stores and a network of 1,225 Geox stores.
