Committee complements country’s vision of enabling women to play significant role in efforts to build stronger nation
In celebration of International Women's Day, the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) has launched ‘Elham,’ a committee tasked to help advance the cause of women empowerment in the UAE. The announcement was made during a brunch event, which was held today (March 8, 2016) at the DAFZA headquarters. The creation of ‘Elham’ comes in line with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership of enabling women empowerment and tapping on women leaders to play an important part in the efforts to build a stronger nation. DAFZA has created ‘Elham’ to help reinforce the call for women empowerment in the Freezone. Through its establishment, DAFZA will now be able to demonstrate its understanding of the important role that women play in society, business and governance. The committee will be tasked with studying and analyzing women's needs and requirements in DAFZA. ‘Elham’ is also expected to take the lead in the benchmarking and adoption of best practices that have been introduced and implemented by known female leaders—embracing the concept of women leadership in the UAE and across the Middle East region. Members of the committee will regularly meet to discuss ideas and develop recommendations that are aimed towards women empowerment in DAFZA. Shujoon Al Gergawi, Senior Director of Government Services, DAFZA, said: “The launch of ‘Elham’ demonstrates DAFZA's understanding of the important role that women play in building this nation. From the political arena to the diplomatic corps, from the judiciary to the commercial sector, Emirati women have played a leading role in the UAE's journey towards economic growth, development and continuous prosperity. We are confident that 'Elham' will succeed in achieving all of its objectives, which is to serve, lead and help in making the UAE, not just a global hub for business but also as a leading advocate for women empowerment.”Categories
