Brazil exported USD 3.37 billion worth of beef to Arab World during first 9 months of 2016
In partnership with the Association of Brazilian Beef Exporters (ABIEC), the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) successfully hosted an ‘Arab Day’ event during its participation at SIAL Paris 2016, the largest international marketplace for foodservice professionals seeking inspiration, which took place recently in Paris, France. During the special event, ABCC promoted Brazilian halal beef to Arab importers from the MENA region.
ABIEC, along with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), accompanied 19 meat processing companies to SIAL Paris 2016--exhibiting their products in a 990-square-meter stand. Aside from the Arab Day, there were also daily tastings along with special promotions such as Nelore Day and Angus Day.
Dr. Michel Alaby, Secretary General and CEO, ABCC, said: “This year marked the largest participation for ABIEC in SIAL Paris, as we aimed for further market expansion. The exhibition offered a perfect gateway to network with the global beef supply chain. We are proud to show our support by organizing the Arab Day event as the region is a key market for Brazilian beef and the promotional event played a significant role in bolstering beef exports to the region.”
Between January and September 2016, Brazilian beef exports to the Arab World totaled USD 3.37 billion according to data released by Brazil’s Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MCID). Egypt, one of the world’s largest beef markets, imported USD 506.6 million worth during the same period.
ABCC also participated in SIAT - Agriculture, Investment and Technology Exhibition, which took place from October 19 to 22, 2016 in Tunis, Tunisia. During the event, ABCC mounted an institutional booth for the event.
