Telecommunications Regulatory Authority sponsors mGov platform
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that 22 government entities will participate in GITEX 2016 under the TRA-sponsored UAE mGov platform from October 16 to 20, 2016. The TRA is showcasing 12 innovative projects during the event, including new ICT applications for humanitarian services.
The TRA said that the various entities’ participation represents a unified image of the ICT sector’s role in serving society as a vital nerve for other sectors to perform their roles. The sector also plays an important role in improving people’s quality of life, helping attain happiness and transforming the UAE into a smart society.
H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the TRA, lauded the participating entities for their active efforts in promoting an electronic lifestyle across the country and advancing the UAE Government’s smart transformation program. He pointed out that GITEX is one of the most effective and innovative technology-themed initiatives in the world, being the biggest platform for the region’s ICT community to showcase the latest technical innovations and facilitate the exchange of experiences as well as review the best practices in the sector.
“The ministries and authorities of the federal government are once again participating under the mGov umbrella. The integration of government entities into the ICT sector is vital in achieving the UAE’s smart transformation program and will enable us to implement value-adding smart government services for customers as well as organizations. We have to keep pace with the rapid technological developments taking place worldwide, which fast-tracks innovation, services development, and lifestyle improvements,” H.E. Al Mansoori added.
From his side, His Excellency (H.E.) Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, sees GITEX as an opportunity to review the smart services and applications whether related with Ministry of Education or other Ministries--available and presented by various international or local entities, as well as aimed towards promoting the development trends in the UAE’s education sector by providing it with available smart educational solutions.”
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, said “The Ministry invests is participating at GITEX to present its latest range of smart services such as the smart library, which is an electronic gate that provides thousands of books for federal employees. It invites the audience to participate in its competitions during the exhibition and benefit from its technological initiatives within culture sector.”
In the same context, H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Economy has explained that the Ministry is participating at GITEX to promote stronger communication with the audience, increase their awareness on the smart services provided for customers, whether companies or investors. He pointed out that the exhibition is a global platform that looks to review the most recent services and products in IT sector, which supports developing the sustainability of smart transformation—which has been achieved by the Ministry by 100 per cent in terms of major services.
H.E. Awad Sagher Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services, Ministry of Health and Prevention, stated that the Miistry is keen to participate in GITEX, in order to present the most recent innovative initiatives and smart services aimed towards promoting the quality of the local health system and develop the health facilities to achieve the happiness of customers according to high global standards and keep pace with the rapid changes in UAE, following the directives of the wise leadership.
H.E. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Energy has revealed that the Ministry will launch a new automation system called “Atmatah,” which collects and presents all energy data for energy producing and consuming entities in UAE. It will present also smart applications within solar energy sector to help rationalize energy, besides presenting the statics data for electricity and water in the country.
H.E. Mansour Al Mansouri, General Director of the National Media Council, revealed the council’s first time to participate in the exhibition’s history. During their presence, the council will provide its wide range of full smart transformed services and will review its experience in measuring customer’s happiness and electronic reviewing system.
H.E. Dr. Saeed Bin Abdullah Mutlaq Al Ghafli, Director General for the Emirates Identity Authority shared that the authority’s focus at GITEX will be towards its services and initiatives while also presenting its review on recent global trends and advanced products, including smart tools which support the authority’s vision towards providing world class quality services in terms of proving the identity of organization or individuals”
Dr. Ibrahim Obaid Saif Al Zaabi Director General of the Insurance Authority, said, “Through our presence at GITEX, we are aiming to display the quality achievements of the authority in terms of smart services, identify the customers, partners and audience with the smart services provided by the authority in addition to our smart future plans and projects, which is needed to achieve the vision of being a leader in organizing and developing the insurance sector and promote it to a global level”
H.E. Mohammed Al Saleh, FEWA’s Director General has pointed out that GITEX is an opportunity to highlight FEWA’s role of serving all social sectors. It hopes to contribute achieving its goals through displaying the smart services and present them to the audience.”
H.E. Abdullah Al Kathiri, Director General, Federal Transport Authority, Land and Maritime, considers GITEX as a technology umbrella that provides the authority with the opportunity to inform the audience and customers with the services and other electronic developments while also having the opportunity to present the most recent technologies around the world and how the UAE is using it for work developments.”
H.E. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, CEO, Securities and Commodities Authority said, “The authority’s participation aims to develop the investment awareness for the exhibition’s visitors, especially the investors. Our goal is to make them aware of the authority’s role to protect the customers rights and ensure safety of the exchanges in the market.”
H.E. Mohammad Al Beli, Manager of UAE University has confirmed that the university participation in the exhibition is a great opportunity to display their achievements and explore new collaborations and partnerships with big organization within this sector, which reflect positively on UAE position within technology, innovation, knowledge and industries.
H.E. Mohamed Saif Al Hameli, Acting Director General of the General Pension and Social Security Authority has confirmed their participation in GITEX, sharing that they will focus on identifying and spreading more awareness for their offered electronic services. The authority will launch five new e-services within the 3rd stage of the plan, which ends this year with the launching of the last two services.
H.E. Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, General Secretary of the UAE Red Crescent Authority has confirmed their participation in GITEX, where they aim to present the authority’s electronic initiatives and other technical achievements following the country’s plans and strategies especially smart gov and provide all services for customers easily.
Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology has revealed that it will launch various electronics works and smart services such as the website of the authority, website for investigating campaigns, smart investing through smart devices, as well as launching of the awareness game for the authority’s services and other innovative services.
Awqaf has pointed out that authority will also launch a new application during GITEX, which features a simple and easy interface--where visual identity has been applied on all services provided through the application. It will launch the art building for mosques using VR technology, where the interactivity with the presented material can be done with a voice feature to describe the mosque features.
The TRA’s section at GITEX is presenting a smart engineering building model through a virtual reality (VR) device, demonstrating how green buildings operate using clean energy. The VR technology also showcases a game feature highlighting the ways to respond to disasters and crises. It is also displaying the ‘Our Future’ project as well as IT gadgets for athlete training.
Other initiatives that are being highlighted are the second phase of the ‘Taghtia’ initiative, the ICT Rating system, ‘Irtiqa,’ the Drones4Good competition and the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Award. The use of Augmented Reality technology by EBTIC center for innovation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program, Future Schools Lab Project and the Future Jobs Program is also being showcased.
In addition to the TRA, other participants under the mGov umbrella are the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, Awqaf, Emirates Red Crescent, the Emirates Identity Authority, the Insurance Authority, Esma, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE University, the General Pension and Social Security Authority, the Federal Authority For Land and Maritime Transport, the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, the National Media Council, and the Ministry of Education.
