Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), participated at Middle East’s First 2016 edition of TradeWinds Shipowners Forum which was held recently at the "Jumeirah Emirates Towers" hotel in Dubai, to discuss key issues related to the global maritime sector. Dubai hosted this global event in its third and final edition for the first time in the Middle East after a remarkable success in the last two sessions held in Hong Kong and Athens.
Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, showcased the most prominent competitive advantages of the maritime industry of Dubai, during a panel discussion session, which was held on the sidelines of the Middle East’s First 2016 edition of TradeWinds Shipowners Forum, where he provided a comprehensive idea about the various maritime components and the efforts being made to promote the competitive advantages of the local maritime sector to make Dubai one of the world's most important maritime centers.
Commenting on the participation, Amer Ali said: “The maritime industry is witnessing a very important stage, and our participation in the event is particularly important, as it offers us the opportunity to communicate directly with regional and international counterparts, and brief them on the latest developments related to the maritime sector, which have had a large impact on the development, promotion and organization process of the local maritime sector to position Dubai among the most competitive maritime capitals in the world. During the event, we introduced our tireless efforts to the international community regarding the development of all aspects of the maritime sector as we believe that it is an important and main pillar for sustainable economic growth.
Ali added: “We would like to thank the organizers of this event for choosing Dubai to host the third edition of the TradeWinds forum series following the success of earlier forums held in Hong Kong and Athens. This affirms the leadership of Dubai as a key player in shaping the future of the regional and global maritime sector in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”
The forum, which is a flagship event of TradeWinds, a leading shipping news provider, has been designed to be topical and forward looking with highly focused discussion sessions and presentations made by a mix of high-level global maritime influencers and local leaders. It facilitated knowledge and expertise exchange between decision makers, leaders, experts and industry influencers in the regional and global maritime sector. The Dubai edition is the third and final event in the series marking TradeWinds 25th anniversary
High profile speakers like Per Wistoft, CEO of UACC, René Kofod-Olsen, Chief Executive Officer of Topaz Marine & Energy will take part with a keynote address from Eng. Abdullah Al Sulaiti, Managing Director of Nakilat.
