Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) has won two prestigious awards at the Smart Card & Payment Awards Middle East 2015 held last week at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai. The first award was for best smart government payment initiative for its ePay gateway and the second was for the innovation of its mobile payment app called mPay.
Commenting on the dual awards for DSG, Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, said: "I congratulate the smart services team for receiving this double honour, which is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for enabling the public to complete their government transactions in one place with easy payment options for smart devices. Such awards clearly indicate our favourable pace of smart transformation for the provision of government services via smart channels."
Bin Humaidan added: "Great importance is attached to ePayment channels as being effective means for enabling customers to access government services by using websites, or smart devices that accompany users everywhere round the clock. In developing these services, DSG was keen on realizing the concept of smart and connected government by co-operating with a large number of government entities for providing a selected bouquet of services for customers as per their desires and implementing the initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for providing easy access to all government transactions from one place and through one device."
Bin Humaidan continued: "Winning these awards is further evidence of our customers' trust in and satisfaction with these services in line with DSG's Strategic Plan 2014-2017. This is because the win serves the practical steps we are taking towards the government of the future and the plan of Dubai Government towards 2021 for ensuring the smart transformation of high-quality services as soon as possible with the aim of gaining the satisfaction of customers, ensuring their happiness and fulfilling the aspirations of Dubai Government in its march towards the smartest city worldwide."
The ePay gateway has 30 government entities who use it to accept payment of corporate and individual customers for over 250 government services. The service supports the three different methods of payment: credit cards, eDirham G2 and direct debit. The mPay app (for Apple and Android phones) enables customers to enquire and pay the fees of 9 entities for most common government services. The mPay app is distinguished for its ease of use, guides and easy download options.
