Today, we celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality.” This theme revolves around accelerating the 2030 Agenda, and building momentum for the effective implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, as adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to tackle poverty, non-equality, and climate change.
DEWA honours 39 outstanding students in its scholarship programme
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured 39 high-performing Emirati students who are part of DEWA’s scholarship programme. The move supports the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support and develop talented Emiratis. It also supports DEWA’s strategy to promote Emiratisation and develop a UAE National workforce for the energy and water sectors. The award ceremony, organised at DEWA’s head office, was attended by Dr.

DEWA’s women’s sports team wins Duplays’ 5-a-side football tournament
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s women’s sports team came first in the 5-a-side football tournament organised by Duplays, the UAE’s largest organiser of recreational sport leagues and amateur sports competitions. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended the achievement by the team, as well as the efforts of DEWA’s Woman’s Committee.

Dubai Smart Government announces the joining of Dubai Customs to mPay
UAE, May 4, 2014 - Dubai Smart Government has announced that Dubai Customs has joined mPay thereby benefiting the import and business sector to use mobile payment services. Dubai Customs joins RTA, Dubai Police, DEWA, Dubai Cares, Al Jalila Foundation, and Etisalat as the seven entities using mPay in Dubai.
