Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Women’s Association to support the global vision of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC) for Awqaf and Endowments, which is the first organisation launched to support marriage endowment, and strengthen its work. DEWA is the first organisations to receive the Marriage Endowment sign for young Emiratis. The MoU will provide training, consulting, family services, and some marital initiatives. It was signed under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. As per the terms of the MoU, DEWA will provide an annual endowment of AED 2 million to Dubai Women’s Association, to support mass weddings, and strengthen family ties, in order to develop a cohesive society. The MoU will also enhance cooperation between the two sides, and will fulfil the mutual interest of raising awareness within the community.
“DEWA’s strategies, plans, and initiatives are inspired by the vision of our wise leadership. The MoU between DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association supports the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving, by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The MoU was also signed in adherence with the global vision for endowment and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote humanitarian and community-focused initiatives. We follow in the footsteps of our wise leadership, who in turn follows the footsteps of the founding fathers. We consider supporting the youth to be a major priority in our strategy. We strive to achieve these goals and commend Dubai Women’s Association for their tireless efforts to launch initiatives to support women and the young,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“We thank Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for her tireless support for this community initiative. We appreciate the management of Dubai Women’s Association, who cooperate with DEWA to support the goals of the community. DEWA’s relationship with Dubai Women’s Association has lasted for many years. Today, we are cooperating with Dubai Women’s Association to support mass weddings, and other initiatives to help the community, families, and raise environmental awareness. This supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to create a cohesive and coherent community,” said Al Tayer.
“We are honoured to be the first government organisation to support the Marriage Endowment sign, under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, and Dubai's global vision for Awqaf and Endowments, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to adopt an integrated strategy to transform Dubai into an international hub for empowering endowments in humanitarian aid. We are willing to provide our full support to the Mass Wedding initiative, by bearing the full costs for the mass wedding, and contributing to building a society based on close families and communities,” added Al Tayer.
“To support the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and in adherence with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the MoU signed between DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association supports young marriages. The cooperation between DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association is an important step towards the social development of the Emirate. DEWA was one of the first organisations to adopt ‘Waqf’ as a social responsibility. This has had a major social impact on youth, and reflects the efforts made by DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association,” said Dr Hamad Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the MBRGCEC.
“We are working to launch initiatives that support community and family affairs, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) we aim to develop our services according to the highest standards, in adherence with the vision of the wise leadership on family stability and cohesion. Our cooperation with DEWA reflects our efforts to uphold this vision. We cooperate with a number of government organisations to support charitable and social initiatives, including mass weddings to support the psychological and emotional stability of the young. Through this MoU, we aim to exchange best practices, and organise training sessions regarding family matters, while providing counselling to DEWA employees”, said Dr Fatima Mohammed Saeed Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Women's Association.
Cooperation between DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association will provide free training programmes to the families of DEWA employees, as well as a number of awareness campaigns relating to energy and water conservation. The agreement will also allow for the organising of mass weddings, conferences and forums, and events promoting the activities of DEWA and Dubai Women’s Association.
