Beirut, 6 June 2014: Boecker®, the leading Pest Management, Food Safety, and Biosecurity solutions provider in the region, signed a strategic partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Lebanon. The Memorandum of understanding was signed by Boecker® CEO, Michel Bayoud and The Governor of Rotary District 2452 for 2013-2014, Jamil Mouawad. The MoU states that Boecker® will provide water filtration systems in 6 public schools resulting in clean potable/drinking water to students; with this Boecker® actively support the Rotary clubs in their “Providing clean filtered drinking water for students of public schools" national mega project, which is being scaled on 1,200 public schools, spread all over the country’s regions.
This initiative will involve raising awareness on the importance of water and sanitation, with workshops led by Boecker® consultants, who will be conducting training sessions to public schools teachers who will be mandated ]to pass on the knowledge gained at the Boecker® workshops to their respective students in class, with special focus on the importance of water, hygiene and sanitation.
Speaking about the importance of this memorandum, Bana Kobrosly, Country Manager at Boecker® Lebanon, stated that the company is committed to a clear policy in implementing its social initiatives, which are focused on providing the health and environmental awareness especially when it comes to a vital substance such as water. She added: "The Rotary Clubs launched this big project we cannot but appreciate their huge field efforts and extend our support to this cause especially in raising awareness on the importance of securing safe drinking water for children."
In this line, Rotary Clubs “Providing clean filtered drinking water for students of public schools" project covers all Lebanese territory, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. With the number of public schools in Lebanon reaching 1,200, this project has been achieved in 220 of them so far, and the project will cover all schools within three years.
“Every student has the right to drink clean water. It goes without saying that drinking clean water leads to less diseases, healthier students, and consequently, better education,” said Jamil Mouawad, Rotary District Governor. “The bigger the challenge, the greater its positive impact on humanity.”
