Bassoul Heneine and the “Institut Francais du Liban” Bring Cinema Closer to the Lebanese People

August 2014 - Bassoul-Heneine Group, importer of Renault vehicles to Lebanon, has for many years supported “Ciné Caravane;” an initiative setup by the Institut Francais du Liban, and which allows those living in rural areas the ability to watch some of the latest cinematic releases.

Ciné Caravane was created in 2001 by the Institut Francais du Liban, in partnership with local associations and the relevant municipalities, to allow for a greater dissemination of culture, and notably, of cinematic films. Throughout the summer, Ciné Caravane screens a series of films in far-flung Lebanese villages, to reach a greater audience, and offer entertainment to a wider number of Lebanese people.

This year in August two French films—Belle et Sebastien and the animated film Minuscule—as well as the full-length Lebanese film Ghadi, directed by Amin Dora and George Khabbaz and which received wide acclaim from audiences, will be shown across the length and breadth of the Lebanese territory. This will offer the residents of the villages a real cinematic event, and give them the opportunity to enjoy offerings from both Lebanese and foreign cinema.

For its third corporate social responsibility activity of 2014, Bassoul-Heneine has this time chosen to contribute to the development of culture in rural areas, by placing a Renault Clio and a Renault Sandero Stepway at the disposal of Ciné Caravane, in order to facilitate its movement in Lebanon.

Mia Bassoul, associate partner and marketing director for the group said, “The Renault Group is happy to diversify its CSR initiatives, and support the wonderful program that is Ciné Caravane.”

Cynthia Kanaan, project manager to the cultural attaché and head of the Ciné Caravane affirmed, “The Institut Francais du Liban is pleased to bring a moment of cultural entertainment once again this year to the young and elderly in the Lebanese regions. Our initiative, supported from its very beginnings by Bassoul-Heneine, is one which is fully consistent with the dissemination of culture; the mission of the Institut Francais. The free screenings of films offered by Ciné Caravane always create a sharing, convivial feeling in the villages.”
