Alfa, managed by Orascom Telecom, took part in the 2015 Earth Hour, a global initiative aiming to highlight the threat posed by climate change, as the official telecom sponsor of Earth Hour – Lebanon.As a symbol of its participation in the campaign, Alfa turned off all the lights at its headquarters for a full hour (8.30 PM - 9.30 PM) on Saturday March 28. Earth Hour has become a global event during which people are asked to turn off the lights and unnecessary electronic devices for one hour on the last Saturday of March of each year, to raise awareness about the threat of climate change.

Alfa CEO and Chairman Marwan Hayek stated on this occasion, “Climate change remains of great significance and importance both globally and locally, despite all the other concerns and developments, as the climate challenge represents one of the most prominent risks and requires intensified efforts to raise awareness on environmental pollution.He added, “It is our responsibility to preserve the moderate climate in Lebanon, which represents a true national wealth. It is a strategic gain that must not be squandered because of ignorance, inaction or complacency. This is why Alfa did not hesitate to participate in this annual event as the official telecom sponsor for Earth Hour Lebanon and its main supporter. As a socially responsible company, we have a duty toward our community and our environment to preserve the environment and fight desertification and impending climate change.

Hayek also received a delegation from G Association, which organized the event in Lebanon, and signed the Global Campaign for Earth Hour slogan.
